Catch up time

I've been a little lazy on keeping up my blog, so now is the time to catch up. Other than the Halloween blog I haven't posted since Kaylee's 4 Month Check up and a lot has happened since then.

First off, we started Kaylee on Cereal on October 17th, she has done very well with it, but I don't think she is quite ready to be eating it from a spoon. So I have been mixing it in with her morning and bed time bottles. After just a week of her eating it I could definitely tell she was gaining some weight.

She is smiling and giggling more and more by each passing day! She LOVES to watch Dora and Diego already... lol! She is trying to scoot around but she can't get her arms to do any work, she is steadily pushing around on her legs, once she can get her arms going she will be crawling all of the place.

(Playing at Grandma's House)

We started her on squash on November 1st and she did good with it :) She seemed to like it, but she only had a few days of it because she got sick and we haven't given her any since then( doctor's orders).

Tuesday November 3rd she woke up VERY cranky and fussy which is so unlike her! She finally calmed down and Justin took her to the sitter's house for the day. When I picked her up after work Jen told me that she had been fussy and that she slept more than usual and she felt a little warm. I took her temp when I got home and she had a 102.3 fever and she also had diarrhea. So I called the After hours Nurses for her Doctors Office. They advised me to give her Tylenol and call the doctor in the morning to see if he wanted to see her. When she woke up the next morning her temp was 100 right out of bed so I called the doctors office and they wanted her to come in. He did a Flu test but it came back negative and he checked her gums to see if it was possibly just teething, but is wasn't. They found blood in her stool so they had to send it off for testing. Her temp went away the next day and other than the constant diarrhea she was doing better.

(After the nurse took my temp 99.9)

We finally got the test results on Saturday afternoon.... she had somehow got Salmonella Bacteria!?!?! We nor the Dr has any idea how she got it... could have been anything she touched and put in her mouth, it could have come from the dog, or even someone else who may of had it?!?!? But at her age antibiotics could make it worse or make her have it longer so she has to just pass it through her system until is is gone. They are going to test her stool once a week until we know for sure it is completely out of her system.

(I fell asleep while waiting for the Dr.)

She will be 5 months old on Friday and as of her Dr appt on Wednesday she now weighs 11lbs 10 ozs. So she has gained 1 lb in the last month!

Kaylee's First Halloween

We decided to dress Kaylee up as a pumpkin for her first Halloween since that is her nickname. We were very lucky to find and outfit that fit her. We had bought a 0-3 months outfit at the end of Sept. she was still wearing newborns at the time so we figured a month out she could wear it. Well after we tried it on her we found out it was too small, even then, so we took it back and got her a 3-6 month, which fit her. I tried it on her last Thursday night to come to find out it was now too short on her :( So Friday night the night before Halloween we took it back hoping we could find something else to fit her. Once we returned it, we went to the Halloween section to find they had 2 costumes left, one was a 0-3 month, and the other was a 6-9 month, so we tried it on her before we left and it fit her perfectly!!!! I couldn't believe they still had one in the store. But the good part about having to go back on Friday night was that we got it 30% off :)

We didn't take her trick or treating since she is only 4 1/2 months old and the temperature outside was in the high 70's so the costume would have been too hot to keep on her for too long. We just took her to a couple of houses so some friends and family could see her in her Pumpkin costume.
